On September 28th, 2024, we had the honor of photographing one of our favorite fall weddings at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. This day was a true testament to why we love being wedding photographers here in Arkansas—our clients truly do become our friends! From the moment we arrived to the final goodbye, every second of Colin and Caytlee’s big day was filled with laughter, tears of joy, and unforgettable moments.
Haven and I started off the day by splitting up, which is our usual approach for wedding photography. I headed off with the guys, while Haven stayed with the ladies. This setup ensures that everyone has a comfortable, relaxed space during those intimate getting-ready moments—particularly when it comes to changing and prepping. Having a photographer of the same gender in each room can be a real game-changer for capturing all the sweet, candid shots without anyone feeling self-conscious.
Helpful Tip for Getting Ready Photos:
Make sure your getting-ready space has plenty of natural light (if possible) and is relatively clutter-free. It’s much easier to capture beautiful, detail-rich images when the environment is bright, clean, and organized. If that’s not possible, try designating a small corner of the room for your photographer to capture details like the dress, shoes, and accessories.
Meanwhile, Haven took the girls to a cozy spot in the church—complete with a stylish couch—for photos in their matching PJs. These casual, playful shots have become some of Haven’s favorites this year, and we’ve noticed that brides love them, too. It’s a fun way to capture the joy and excitement of the big day with all your best friends.
Before the ceremony, Colin had a heartfelt first look with his mom, and then it was time for Caytlee’s emotional first look with her dad. Watching those connections unfold before our eyes reminded us why these moments can be so powerful. A first look doesn’t always have to be between the bride and groom—it can be shared with parents, siblings, or any special person who has played a meaningful role in your life.
Helpful Tip for First Looks:
If you’re planning on multiple first looks—like with a parent, grandparent, or even your bridal party—coordinate the timing and location beforehand. This helps each special moment feel organized and relaxed. Make sure to keep tissues on hand, too!
Next up were bridal party photos, taken separately to keep the bride and groom from seeing each other pre-ceremony. We captured some great group shots with the ladies and the guys—who even found time for a quick game of basketball on the church playground! Having fun activities during bridal party portraits can loosen everyone up and create genuine, lively photos.
Helpful Tip for Bridal Party Photos:
Encourage your bridal party to be themselves! Whether it’s laughing, goofing around, or even playing a short game, those candid moments often produce the best images. It also helps everyone relax and forget they’re in front of a camera.
Fellowship Bible Church was filled with loved ones excited to support Colin and Caytlee as they said “I do.” As the music began and the wedding party made their way down the aisle, you could feel the love and anticipation in the air. Fall weddings in Arkansas are truly special—there’s a certain warmth in the atmosphere that makes these moments all the more magical.
Both the bride and groom wrote heartfelt vows that brought tears to nearly everyone in attendance (including Haven and me!). It’s always such a privilege to capture those raw, emotional moments and know that these words will be cherished for years to come.
Right after exchanging vows and rings, Colin and Caytlee led a worship song together as their very first act as husband and wife. This was such a meaningful way to begin their marriage—something uniquely “them” that allowed them to share their faith and love with all their guests. Whether you choose a unity ceremony, a special reading, or even a fun activity, your first act as a married couple can really set the tone for your new life together.
With the ceremony and family photos wrapped up, we headed to the reception area for the first dances. From the newlyweds’ first dance to the sweet parent dances, there was no shortage of love in the room. We then captured the cake cutting, which was (as always) full of fun and laughter.
Helpful Tip for Reception Timelines:
Plan your timeline around key events—like cake cutting, first dances, bouquet toss, and speeches—so guests know what to expect, and your photographer can be ready to capture the moments without missing a beat. Communication with your venue and DJ or coordinator will ensure everything runs smoothly.
There were plenty of opportunities for family photos and candid shots throughout the reception. One of our favorite parts about being wedding photographers in Little Rock is getting to see families come together and celebrate in such a personal way. The cake was almost too pretty to cut, but it tasted as good as it looked!
The maid of honor, best man, and father of the bride delivered some touching speeches, filled with anecdotes, tears, and lots of laughs. Speeches are some of our favorite moments to photograph because they often bring out genuine reactions from everyone in the crowd.
Once the dance floor opened, the party really got going! We danced alongside the bride and groom, capturing every moment of the celebration. The bouquet toss followed, and one of Caytlee’s closest friends snagged the bouquet—a perfect moment to photograph. Seeing everyone cheer and laugh together always warms our hearts.
Helpful Tip about Bouquet Tosses:
If you’re planning to do a bouquet toss, let your DJ or MC announce it ahead of time, so all the eligible guests can gather. This also gives your photographer time to find the best angle for those action shots—because the moment the bouquet flies, it’s over in a flash!
As the night came to a close, the couple shared one final dance. It was a sweet, quiet moment for them to soak in the day’s memories and enjoy each other’s company before heading out into their new life together.
To cap off this already unforgettable wedding, Colin and Caytlee chose a slow, silent exit, where their closest family and friends prayed over their marriage. It was a touching, intimate send-off that truly reflected who they are.
All in all, Colin and Caytlee’s fall wedding at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, was an absolute dream. From heartfelt moments to joyous celebrations, the day embodied everything we love about wedding photography. We’re so grateful to have witnessed the beginning of their journey as husband and wife—and even more grateful to call them friends.
